BREAKING; Federal Govt releases funds to settle NASU Salaries, Pensioners benefits
The Federal Government has allocated funds to address overdue salaries for members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities, as well as to provide benefits to retirees under the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme.
In a statement released on Saturday, Bawa Mokwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, confirmed that disbursements to NASU members have begun, with many already reporting that they have received their payments.
The statement highlighted, “Funds have been released by the Federal Government to settle outstanding salaries for members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Federal Universities. Additionally, the Government has made provisions for the benefits of retirees participating in the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Contributory Pension Scheme.”
The OAGF emphasised that payments to Non-Academic Staff at Federal Universities are underway, with numerous individuals confirming receipt.
Furthermore, the OAGF reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to the welfare of Nigerian workers and retirees.
In response to four months of unpaid salaries, the Joint Action Committee of SSANU and NASU initiated an indefinite strike on Monday, resulting in a halt to activities at universities nationwide.
