Government approves funds to refurbish spoilt Armoured Personnel carriers APCs to enhance security

The Oyo State executive council has approved the sum of N184 million for the refurbishment/upgrade of seven Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) in the State.

State Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Mr Abiodun Aikomo disclosed this while briefing journalists at the Oyo governor’s office on the outcome of Thursday’s executive council meeting.

Aikomo said the government approved of the refurbishment realising that the APCs were largely unserviceable and not serving the purpose they are meant for

He stressed that the decision was to enhance security across the state and ensure the state is always battle-ready.

On his part, state Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Professor Musibau Babatunde said the state was upwardly reviewing the Agric produce grading fees and licenses.

He said the review was to make produce from Oyo State more standardised and exportable.

This is as he added that the state was reviewing its Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) with a view to beginning another round of the programme by the end of March.

The state government had introduced the SAfER to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy.
