Gov shocked over audacity of drug dealers who obtained court orders to retrieve seized illegal drugs

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State voiced his astonishment upon discovering that drug dealers in the state had obtained court orders to retrieve confiscated shipments of illicit drugs.

The revelation emerged during his visit to the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) on Saturday, where he received a briefing on the matter.

According to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakintofa, Governor Yusuf expressed disbelief at the judiciary’s role in issuing these orders.

The statement partly reads: “It is deeply troubling that individuals engaged in the illicit drug trade have successfully procured court orders for the release of their seized contraband.

In response to these developments, the governor has instructed the State’s Attorney General to devise a comprehensive strategy to prevent drug traffickers from exploiting legal gaps to conduct their illegal activities.

He underscored the importance of collaboration between the judiciary and the executive branches of government in tackling this critical issue.

Governor Yusuf emphasised, “The seriousness of this matter demands a united front to protect the state from the threats posed by drug trafficking.”

Furthermore, he directed KAROTA to promptly initiate the destruction of the seized drugs, applauding their diligence. The governor reiterated his administration’s steadfast dedication
