A former House of Representatives speaker, Dimeji Bankole, will on Friday, January 15, 2021, get married to Miss Aisha Shinkafi Saidu, daughter of Kebbi Governor, Atiku Bagudu.
CRIMECHANNELS learnt that a statement from Bankole family revealed that a quiet introduction between the 2 families took place to kick off the joining together in line with Islamic and traditional injunctions.
At the introduction ceremony, Sokoto Governor and Bankole’s successor as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, led the groom’s family to the bride’s family home to seek her hand in marriage.
According to reports, the bride is a lawyer and a graduate of the University of Hull in the United Kingdom.
She is a also a granddaughter of the late political heavyweight and one time head of Nigeria’s security organisation Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi, Marafan Sokoto.
Friday’s event will be the culmination of a courtship that both families had kept very discreet.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the ceremony will not be attended by many guests.
