Victor Osimhen threatens to quit Super Eagles camp after on-pitch clash with Lookman
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen reportedly threatened to leave the national team and return to Turkey following a heated incident with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.
According to Arise News, Osimhen, 27, became visibly frustrated after an altercation with Lookman in the 64th minute, despite having scored a brace assisted by the same teammate.
The Galatasaray forward allegedly lashed out at Lookman for not passing to him, then signaled to the bench asking to be substituted. Moses Simon came on to replace him shortly afterward.
At full time, Osimhen reportedly stormed out of the stadium, dropping his accreditation card and declaring that he was “done” with the national team, insisting he wanted to fly back to Turkey.
Senior officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) intervened to calm the situation and pacify the striker, preventing an immediate departure.
