An Air India that is Moscow-bound have been called back when one of its Pilots tested positive for the ravaging coronavirus.

The VT-EXR Air India flight was supposed to land at Moscow on Saturday and it was meant to bring stranded Indians back from Moscow.

A local media source disclosed that the plane was somewhere near Uzbekistan when it was asked to return.

“Sources said it was a genuine oversight as the pilot’s COVID-19 positive report was misread as negative in pre-flight checks,’’ local TV channel News18 said.

“It is believed to be a human error and as soon as it was realised, it was rectified.’’

On landing back at Delhi, it was reported that the plane was sanitised based on the protocol.

“The infected pilot and the rest of the crew have been quarantined,’’ the channel said.

As it stands, India has confirmed 173,763 cases of COVID-19, with the 7,964 figure recorded on Saturday being the highest the country has recorded so far within a day, during this pandemic period.
