Five [5] hoodlums arrested as Commisioner of Police’s Squad storm armed robbers hideout

A Police Special Squad set up by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has stormed Ikorodu area of Lagos state and apprehended 5 suspected traffic robbers/cultists and cleared shanties in the area.

CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the special squad carried out the operation in the area at about 6pm on Thursday.

The Police Public Relations officer of the command, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, made this disclosure in a statement on Saturday.

He gave the identities of the suspects as Tanimowo Babatunde, Gbolahan Oladimeji, Kabiru Atanda, Ibrahim Abubakri, male, and Wasiu Rafiu.


His statement reads, “The Commissioner of Police’s special squad hit the town on Thursday, around 6pm on sting operations. The special squad commanded by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, comprised operatives of Rapid Response Squad, Task Force, State Intelligence Bureau, Special Anti-Crime Team, Police Mobile Force, Motor and Traffic Division, among others.”

“The operations were carried out simultaneously to remove the shanties, blockages and open markets on the roads in the Ikorodu Division, particularly in the Agric area and some other parts of the town, that had been an eyesore and criminal hideouts, with a view to making the town free of gridlock and crimes.”

“The squad succeeded in clearing the blockages on the roads, illegal parks and shops, where it arrested 5 suspected traffic robbers and cultists.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner appealed to traditional rulers and union leaders to support the Police in its efforts to sanitise the town and initiate better security network for them.
