Federal Govt using EFCC to intimidate me because I refuse to join APC – PDP Gov cries out

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has accused the Federal Government of deploying state institutions to intimidate him over his refusal to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The allegation was made on Wednesday in Bauchi at the event where the governor signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.

During his remarks, Mohammed expressed concern over what he described as political persecution, revealing that one of his commissioners is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to the governor, the action is linked to his position as a leading opposition figure.

He said: “As a governor, someone who is the head of the opposition, my commissioner has been kept and will not be released by the EFCC.

“Even when I have immunity as a governor, my name was stupendously mentioned in a motion in a court of law in Nigeria. Me, Bala Mohammed,” he said.

Mohammed further accused the APC-led Federal Government of attempting to weaponize the judiciary and anti-graft agencies against political opponents.

He argued that institutions such as the EFCC are being used to harass and prosecute individuals who are not aligned with the ruling party.

Despite the pressure, the governor insisted that intimidation would not compel him to abandon his political stance or join the APC, maintaining that no level of harassment would change his position.
