#EndSARS Protests; Killing of officers, hasn’t forced Policemen off duties – CP

The Commissioner of Police in charge of Ekiti State Command on Saturday, said that the protest by #ENDSARS protesters has not in any way forced Police operatives in the state to leave their duty post.

This information was disclosed in a statement by Mobayo Babatunde, Ekiti state Commissioner of Police.

Mobayo said that despite the killings of Police operatives and the wide spread destruction caused by hoodlums who disguised themselves as protesters, the Police were still on ground to carry out their primary duty which is protecting the lives and properties of the citizens in the state.

It could be recalled that due to the killings of security operatives during the #ENDSARS protest, several officers abandoned their stations for fear of being mobbed by hoodlums.

The Commissioner in his statement also advised the people of Ekiti state not to entertain fear, adding that the Police will continually ensure the protection of lives and property in the state no matter how tensed the situation is.

“We are fully on ground, we have not abandoned our duties in spite of the tensed atmosphere and killings of our police officers in some other states and burning of police stations here in Ekiti.”

“I want to really salute policemen here in Ekiti for their gallantry. They were fully on ground throughout the EndSARS period, there was never a time they ran away from duties despite that palpable threat.”

He also sounded a strong warning to criminals in the state, saying that he will not hesitate to prosecute anyone who is caught breaking the law.
