CP orders full investigation into murder of Policeman, directs deployment of officers

Rivers State Police Commissioner, CP, Friday Eboka, ordered a full-scale investigation into the murder of ASP Chris Josiah by unidentified gunmen on Thursday.

Eboka also ordered a massive deployment of personnel across Rivers State’s Oyigbo Local Government Area, where the tragedy occurred, to apprehend criminal elements and perpetrators of violent crimes against the people of the area in order to bring lasting peace to that part of the state.

It could be recalled that the late Josiah was assigned to the Afam Divisional Police Headquarters but was tragically killed in his prime on his way home from work on June 28.

According to Investigations, it was revealed that the deceased was attacked by a 5-gang of masked armed men who shot and killed him inside his Lexus RX 300 SUV along Assemblies of God Church, Obeama Community at Oyigbo, a suburb of the metropolis.

In a statement issued on Thursday to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko revealed that the Police Commissioner has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident with a view to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The CP according to Iringe-Koko also affirmed that further attacks on Police Officers who are constitutionally saddled with the responsibility to protect lives and property will not be tolerated and advised criminal elements in the area and indeed, across the state to leave as he would find them.
