Confusion as Church reportedly cancels wedding over Bride’s pregnancy
There was confusion at an Assemblies of God Church in Aba, Abia State on Sunday following the refusal of the parish priest, Rev Eze Ogba, to wed a couple over a suspected pregnancy of the bride.
The couple, Israel Kennedy, his bride, Miss Rose, and their families had arrived the church ready to be joined in holy matrimony.
But the scheduled wedding was cancelled after a test result showed that the bride was pregnant.
The development led to confusion in the church as the families made frantic efforts to have the board of the church rescind the decision, while the priest was seen interviewing the bride who pleaded her innocence.
The families of the groom and bribe were said to have gone to a nearby church that performed the wedding. The new church also hosted the reception ceremony.
It was learnt that the Assemblies of God Church does not perform wedding for pregnant brides.
