Commissioner of Police (CP) intervenes in Soun of Ogbomosoland, Chief Imam’s feud

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi has called for peace between the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, and the Chief Imam Agba of Ogbomosoland, Yunus Tella Olushina Ayilara.

Soun had earlier alleged Ayilara of breach of Oath of Office because he did not take permission from the palace before traveling out of the town and also appointing a surrogate without getting proper approval from the palace.

Ayilara however, disagreed that he had not breached his oath of office as the decision taken formed part of the pending cases he had filed at the High Court on the subject matter.

The commissioner of Police when informed deemed it fit to intervene as the situation posed great security threats to the ancient city.

The parties were invited to the CP’s office in Ibadan on Wednesday, July 3.

However, the parties, after tabling their side of the story, were urged to sheath their sword as their position in the ancient city determined the peace and development of the area.

According to reports, the Chief Imam was told to tender an unreserved apology to the Palace of Soun while the pending cases in the Court are to be withdrawn.
