Class of people exploiting Nnamdi Kanu’s situation to extort money revealed

Social media commentator and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain has alleged that certain individuals are using the detention of Nnamdi Kanu’s to extort money.

Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Federal High Couet in Abuja on November 20, 2025, after being convicted on all seven terrorism charges filed against him. He is currently serving his term in Sokoto prison.

The secessionist leader’s imprisonment has sparked widespread agitation, particularly in the south east, where calls for his release remain strong.

In a Facebook post on Monday night, Igbokwe claimed that some IPOB members and lawyers are “cashing out” from Kanu’s detention.

“I have noticed that some unrepentant scammers in Igboland, IPOB fraudsters and some charge and bail lawyers are using the detention of Nnamdi Kanu to cash out,” he wrote.

“It has become a business. Even content creators are not left out,” the APC chieftain added.
