Chairman PCRC pays courtesy visit on IGP Tunji Disu at Force Headquarters

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday charged members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to uphold accountability and ensure the proper use of their identity in support of national security efforts.

The directive was given when the IGP received a delegation of the PCRC on a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The delegation, led by its National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, included members of the National Executive Committee and representatives from various zonal commands.

Speaking during the visit, Olaniyan congratulated the IGP on his appointment and reaffirmed the committee’s continued loyalty to the Nigeria Police Force. He also commended the police leadership for recognising the PCRC’s role in strengthening community-based security initiatives across the country.

In his response, Disu expressed appreciation for the committee’s longstanding support, while stressing the need for discipline and responsibility among its members.

He urged the leadership of the PCRC to maintain strict oversight, particularly in the use of its identification, noting that it must be deployed strictly for legitimate purposes, including intelligence gathering.

The IGP further emphasised that members must conduct themselves as responsible citizens in order to protect the credibility of the partnership between the police and the communities they serve.
