Excitment as Governor announces appointments of160 aides into key positions
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has given his approval for the appointment of 160 individuals to key positions within the State.
The appointees includes 93 Supervisory Councilors and 67 Special Assistants, across all 33 local government areas in the state.
This announcement was made by the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Otunba Ademola Ojo, during a press briefing in Ibadan on Tuesday, December 24.
The appointments, which also include persons living with disabilities (PLWD), represent a meaningful step towards fostering inclusivity in governance.
Otunba Ojo, also known as ‘Ijaya,’ revealed that the 33 Local Government Executive Chairmen have been instructed to promptly swear in the newly appointed officials.
He explained that the decision is in line with Governor Makinde’s commitment to ensuring that all segments of the population are represented in the decision-making processes of the state government.
The new appointees were chosen based on their competence, merit, and ability to contribute to the governor’s development goals, particularly in promoting sustainable growth at the grassroots level.
The Commissioner emphasised that these appointments are intended to enhance local governance and improve the delivery of services to Oyo State residents.
“This administration is determined to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their abilities or background, have a voice in governance,” he said, underscoring the government’s belief in the potential of every citizen, including those living with disabilities.
Otunba Ojo also urged the new appointees to prioritize the welfare of their communities and collaborate with local stakeholders to address urgent concerns and implement impactful initiatives.
