BREAKING: South West LP members dump Peter Obi, collapses structure for Tinubu

Several members of Labour Party (LP) in the South West, on Monday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work for the victory of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Presidential in the February 25 election.

This is coming few hours after Bashir Bashir, Labour Party governorship candidate, met with Tinubu in Abuja.

The wave of defection hit Obi barley 48 hours after he ended his political campaign tour of the 36 States of the Federation in Lagos at the weekend.

The LP members, who were led by the Southwest Chairman of the party, Banji Omotosho, collapsed all their political structures to the ruling APC, at an event held in Akure, the Ondo state capital.


Their defection into the APC was facilitated by the National Chairman of the South West Agenda For Asiwaju Tinubu (SWAGA) 2023, Dr. Dayo Adeyeye, and other members of the support group.

Speaking at the ongoing event, Mr Omotosho, said that leaders and members of the LP in the Southwest have decided to quit the party as it was not a viable political platform to win the 2023 election.

He specifically knocked Mr Obi’s chances, noting that the LP presidential candidate ‘cannot win the February poll
