President Tinubu decorates Acting IGP with new rank

Nigeria formally ushered in a new era in police leadership on Wednesday as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu decorated Tunji Disu with the rank of Acting Inspector-General of Police at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The brief but symbolic ceremony, held during a swearing-in event attended by senior government officials and members of Disu’s family, confirmed his elevation as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police.
Disu’s appointment follows the resignation of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, whose departure the Presidency attributed to pressing family considerations.
With the decoration, Disu formally assumes command of the Nigeria Police Force at a time of heightened security concerns and ongoing calls for institutional reforms.
