BREAKING; Police officer, one other shot dead as gunmen open fire, kidnap expatriate

Unknown gunmen on Tuesday, opened fire on a vehicle conveying a foreigner who had just returned to Nigeria.

According to reports, the gunmen killed the Driver of the vehicle as well as shot dead the Police orderly that was serving as security detail to the expatriate.

The men also abducted the foreigner and took him to an unknown location.

CRIMECHANNELS learnt that the incident occurred on the Benin-Auchi expressway on Tuesday, June 16, 2021.

It was learnt that the Driver and the Police Officer were returning from Benin Airport where they had gone to pick the expatriate when they met their untimely death.

As of the time of filing this report, the location of the foreigner is still yet to be known. The expatriate, who has been on leave, was said to have returned to Nigeria to resume work.

The deceased Driver, a native of Jattu, Etsako west local government of Edo State, according to reports, have been buried.

Meanwhile, Edo State Command Police Public Relations officer, CP Kontongs Bello, when contacted to react to the incident, said he has not be briefed on it, he however, said he will call the DPO in the affected area.
