Some armed gunmen numbering about 25, and suspected to be
members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), on Tuesday, stormed the Military base at Kwamdi village, Damboa local government area of Borno and carted away many weapons including live cartridges.

According to reports, CRIMECHANNELS learnt that the terrorists who stormed the base in Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) had first of all engaged operatives of the Nigeria Army in a fierce gun battle before looting some weapons.

They also burnt down an amour personnel carrier and a gun truck belonging to the Army during the deadly attack.

Reacting to the development, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), Hamidu Abu, said that the terrorists came for the Soldiers’ camp and not for residents of the area.

He said, “They came at about 4 p.m. and due to the sand storms it was difficult for Soldiers to repel them. They burnt down the base including APC and 4 other vehicles. I can’t ascertain if there was any causality figure.”

He also confirmed that no Soldiers died in the deadly attack.

“We didn’t lose any of our personnel to the attackers, unfortunately the base suffered some damages,” he said.

  1. Oh God! Military base attacked by civilians?
Who will protect us then? If military base can be attacked and they walk freely,
What can stop them from attacking us on streets? God safe us. Our govt is weak.
