BREAKING: INEC announecs date for commencement of nationwide voters registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for the 2025 general elections will officially commence nationwide on August 18.

This information was released on Friday via INEC’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

According to the statement, prospective voters will be able to begin online pre-registration from August 18 through the commission’s designated portal: cvr.inecnigeria.org.

INEC also clarified that physical (in-person) registration will start a week later, on August 25, and will be available across all of the commission’s Local Government Area offices and selected registration centers nationwide.

The exercise will run Mondays to Fridays, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. each day.

In a message urging citizens to take advantage of the exercise, INEC reminded the public: “Your votes start with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register.”
