BREAKING: Governor’s Wife contesting elections chased out of Party Secretariat

On Saturday, Betty Akeredolu, the First Lady of Ondo State, was chased out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Imo, where she is running for the party’s primary election in Imo West.

The Ondo First Lady, who is from Imo, accompanied her followers to the party’s secretariat to protest the party’s choice of a consensus candidate for the 2023 election.

Confusion ensued when her supporters went berserk, claiming that they must be allowed to vote, but the police attempted to keep the mob under control.

There was a rush in the process, as both newsmen and delegates who had also arrived for the exercise scurried for safety.

The police had to chase Akeredolu and her supporters out of the building to continue their protest.

When speaking to journalists outside the secretariat, Akeredolu said it was unfair to allow aspirants to campaign just to be told that the party had chosen the consensus option.

”I am insisting that we must go by delegate election. I cannot waste time and resources campaigning only to be told that candidates would emerge by consensus. We must vote and if I lose gallantly, I will accept the result,” she stated.
