JUST IN; Fresh crisis hits PDP as Party moves against Wike, suspends Secretary others bigwigs
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) went deeper into internal turmoil on Saturday as National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu and several other top officials reportedly aligned with former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike were suspended from their positions.
The announcement was made by National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba following a marathon meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Other suspended officials include National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, National Organising Secretary Umar Bature, and Deputy National Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha. The suspended members are widely believed to belong to Wike’s faction within the party.
Sources indicated that the suspended officials had, for some time, been absent from party meetings.
The suspensions are set for one month, with the matter referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee for further action.
The move comes a day after an Abuja Federal High Court ordered the party to halt preparations for its National Elective Convention, originally scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Despite the court ruling, the PDP has vowed to appeal the judgment while continuing preparations for the convention.
Party insiders note that ongoing internal disagreements contributed to the filing of the suit challenging the electoral exercise.
