BREAKING: Eleven Police officers dismissed; 19 others being investigated

The Commissioner of Police in charge of Imo State, CP Isaac Akinmoyede, has dismissed 11 Policemen in the state. According to the CP, the Police officers were dis-engaged from the force due to corruption.

The Commission also said not less than 19 Police officers are being investigated for malpractices such as corruption and other unprofessional conducts.

The Commissioner who appeared on a radio station in the State, said there will be no room for corrupt Officers under his watch, adding that any officer who acts in a way that will tarnish the Image of the Police must be fished out and sent packing.

The CP disclosed that the dismissed Policemen were found to have indulged in acts considered to be contrary to the oath they took during their enlistment into the Force.


The CP advised the people of the state to keep bringing to his attention, actions of officers which negate the standard of professional engagements.

A Police officer of the Imo state Command who pleaded to remain anonymous confirmed the dismissal, saying “As of the last count, 11 officers have been dismissed from the force with about 19 being investigated in Imo State.”

“They were found to have engaged in acts that damaged the image of the Nigeria Police Force. Acts, like impersonation, extortion and demand for money from people through bank transfers and so on.”
