BREAKING; Defect to APC with me or resign – PDP Governor tells his Commissioners
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reportedly ordered all commissioners and political appointees in his administration to either defect with him to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or step down from their positions.
The directive was said to have been delivered during a State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting on Thursday, where the governor formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
According to sources at the meeting, Governor Eno dismissed any claims of surprise, declaring, “Anyone who says they didn’t see this coming is still living in the 18th century.”
He attributed his decision to his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and expressed a desire to align more closely with the Federal Government.
The governor reportedly issued a firm warning to his cabinet, stating he would not entertain any opposition to his political move: “There’s nothing to negotiate with anyone unwilling to follow this path,” he said.
“Apart from elected officials like House of Assembly members and Local Government Chairmen, I have nothing to negotiate with you,” Eno declared.
“Let me tell you, anybody who believes that when I leave the PDP he will use the party structure to fight me is lying, because I will still control the PDP structure.”
As of the time of filing this report, the State Executive Council meeting was still in session, with further developments expected in the coming hours.
