Bayelsa Guber: Governor Diri’s lead reduces as Sylva wins Brass Local Govt Area

There is a new twist in the ongoing collation of results for the Bayelsa State governorship election as the leading margin which the state governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Duoye Diri, was having has been reduced.

It will be recalled that prior to today’s collation of the governorship election results, Governor Diri had been having over 60,000 votes margin, this has now been cut down to 58,577.

The margin cut came following the emergence of election results from Brass Local Government Area, which went in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Timipre Sylva.

According to the result announced at the collation centre on Monday afternoon, Sylva polled 18,431, while Diri trailed with 12,602.


This brought the total votes of Diri to 150,511, while that of Sylva stood at 91,934, leaving a margin of 58, 577 votes.

So far, Diri has won five LGAs, while Sylva has secured victory in two.

The result of Southern Ijaw LGA is being expected.
