Bandits threaten 7 communities to pay N37m before deadline date or risk attacks [full list]

A Monday ultimatum has been issued to seven communities in Tsafe Local Government Area by bandits terriozing residents of Zamfara State. The residents were asked to pay a sum of N37 million as ransom or an attack will be launched in the selected areas.

The bandits issued the threat to seven communities which include Bawagauga, Hayin Uda, Ruguza, Dumuyu, Zigau, Mai-Rerai and Gidan Kado.

A reliable source in the area who confirmed the situation said the bandits shared the amount to be paid among the communities. The source said the bandits demanded that residents in Bawagauga are to pay N13 million, Hayin Uda to pay N7 million, Gidan Kado to pay N6 million and Mai-Rerai to pay N4 million while Ruguza, Dumuyu and Zigau were to pay N2 million each.

It was gathered that all the communities are about 25km away from Tsafe Local government headquarters in Zamfara State.

It was also disclosed that Hassan Bamamu the bandit head has previously signed a peace pact with the government of Zamfara State and pledged to desist from banditry activities.


The source also said that it has already alerted the security authorities about the ultimatum for quick intervention.
