Weapons retrieved as Bandit in Military uniform is apprehended

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven have apprehended a suspected bandit posing as a soldier and recovered a cache of arms in separate security operations in Kaduna and Plateau states.

On June 15, soldiers intercepted the suspect in the Katsit community, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He was found wearing military camouflage and allegedly using the disguise to rob unsuspecting residents.

Recovered from the suspect were an AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, seven spent shells, a fake vigilante ID card, a mobile phone, and two ATM cards.

He remains in custody as investigations continue.

In a separate operation on June 16, troops stormed a suspected gunrunner’s hideout in Kwanar Lauje, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Although the suspects had fled before the raid, a thorough search of the premises uncovered another AK-47 rifle, a rifle magazine, a rifle butt, 300 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one 9mm round, two 12.7mm rounds, and an abandoned motorcycle.

All recovered items are now secured by military authorities as follow-up operations continue to track down the fleeing suspects.
