Husband, Wife arrested for allegedly engaging in sale of firearms, ammunition

A couple, Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Bogbon Godwell, have been arrested in Delta State for their involvement in illegal gun running activities, following a covert operation by the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT).
Also apprehended during the operation was 30-year-old Junior Moses Ogedegbe, who is alleged to be connected to the illicit activities.
The couple’s arrest took place on March 9, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, when the CP-SAT operatives conducted a well-executed sting operation at their residence.
The operation, which targeted a suspected gun trafficking network, resulted in the seizure of firearms and the detention of those involved.
Confirming the arrests, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, issued an official statement detailing the successful operation.
He highlighted the significance of the bust in disrupting criminal activities in the region, as the police continue their efforts to curb the flow of illegal weapons.
Authorities have vowed to continue their crackdown on gun running in Delta State and other regions, with further investigations underway to uncover the full scope of the operation and identify other potential suspects linked to the crime.
He said, “Upon their arrest, a fabricated Beretta pistol with a single live ammunition, planned to be delivered to a client in Sapele, was recovered.
“The wife, Mrs. Uche Joshua, admitted to being the dispatcher and confessed to having delivered several arms as directed by her husband to various clients within Warri and Sapele.
“Further investigation also led to the arrest of one Junior Moses Ogedegbe, 30, of Useifurun community in Ughelli South LGA of Delta State, who is also a member of their gang.
“Efforts to recover other arms and arrest more suspects are ongoing.”
