Former Nigerian President’s Cousin kidnapped by armed Men

A former Bayelsa State Commissioner for Special Duties in charge of Federal Projects, Mike Ogiasa have allegedly been abducted by gunmen.

According to sources, Ogiasa, is a cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, and he was kidnapped on Thursday, June 2 at Otuogidi in the Ogbia Local Government Area of the state.

He was claimed to have been kidnapped at gunpoint by a group of roughly eight bandits.

Before his assailants rushed on him, Ogiasa, who also functioned as Special Adviser on Power to the State Government, was alleged to have finished attending a meeting.


His kidnappers have not got in touch with any of his family members since the event, according to reports.

No one has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of Ogiasa, the son of a former Otuoke village Traditional Ruler.

SP Asinim Butswat, the Police Public Relations Officer for Bayelsa State Command, verified the former Commissioner’s kidnapping.

He also stated that a joint investigation involving security agencies had begun with the goal of rescuing Ogiasa and apprehending the perpetrators.
