14-year-old Girl allegedly kidnap 4-year-old Sister demand N50m ransom from parents
The Katsina State Police Command has uncovered a disturbing kidnapping plot involving a 14-year-old girl who conspired with three accomplices to abduct her 4-year-old sister while faking her own abduction to demand a ransom of N50 million from their family.
Police spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq disclosed the shocking details during a press briefing on Wednesday, while giving an update on the Command’s activities for the month of May.
According to Sadiq, the case was first reported on February 20, 2025, by Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters in Katsina.
Bala informed police that both of his daughters aged 14 and 4 had gone missing and were believed to have been kidnapped.
The alleged kidnappers soon made contact, demanding ₦50 million for the release of the girls.
Following the report, Commissioner of Police CP Bello Shehu directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit to launch an urgent investigation.
After months of diligent tracking, the 14-year-old girl eventually reappeared and, during interrogation, confessed to masterminding the abduction alongside three others aged 25, 19, and 16.
She admitted to staging her own kidnapping to cover up the plot and pressure her family into paying the ransom.
Police operatives successfully arrested all the co-conspirators and rescued the 4-year-old victim unharmed.
During the operation, officers also recovered a live 7.62mm round of ammunition from the group.
Commissioner Shehu praised the swift and thorough efforts of the investigating team and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to help authorities prevent and combat crime effectively.
